Not a mark I’ve come across before. Most hand written marks are indicative of hobby potters. Most professional potters in the UK use a stamp in the Leach tradition

After a little more digging around on the Internet I think this box is an early 1950's piece by Stuart Bass from Exmoor - I found a link on the Internet with the same S.B. Signed on the base of a cruet set. Happy dayz

I had a message from the daughter of Stuart Bass who confirmed that she has spoken to her dad and he did not make this box, even though it is the same S.B. on the links, I thought I should just update here to clarify any confusion.
You were right - its probably a hobby potter.
