Their culture was so far ahead of ours. Look at those strong shapes. Before Meissen and the 'invention' of western porcelain 99% of us were quaffing ale out of crude stoneware beakers or horn or something.


I hate the cracks but love the strong decoration, an the lovely shapes.

Got it very cheap because of the cracks and staining. Best guess it was hanging on a fireplace with constant heating and cooling, and tarry soot, from the fire.

Provincial kiln near Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, China.
Sometimes called Kitchen Qing or minyao peoples ware. Made for ordinary people rather than the Emperor. Incised mark indicates it was used in a communal kitchen, and marked so the owner could find it again. Chrysanthemum pattern
