York Rose Pottery vase with J mark - probably Jerry Harper
This pot is clearly marked as York Rose but there is another mark that I can't ID. When I look online I can't find any other York Rose pottery that looks like this.

Graham Williamson lists being the manager of York Rose Pottery in his CV, from 1971 – 74. He may know

A bit of a long shot but Jerry Harper made mugs with a York Rose applied motif. Maybe the J is for Jerry?
The mark isn't in the Marks book

to add, came across several pieces in terracotta and stoneware online with the same York Rose stamp. Some have a similar applied decoration to that used by Jerry Harper. Also came across a bowl with the York Rose stamp with a very similar leaf mould to that used Wold Pottery operated by Mr & Mrs P. Dixon, Beverley, Yorkshire. I suspect the pottery has changed hands several times.

I think the Wold Pottery is a bit of a red herring: it always seems to have been purely an earthenware pottery, and was run by Aidan Dixon from 1954-85 ("Peter" in BSPM is a mistake). The name and some of the designs have since been continued by his one-time assistant Jill Christie, now based in Loftus.

Thanks. I have emailed Graham Williamson and asked him if he can shed any light.

Re: York Rose Pottery vase with J mark - probably Jerry Harper
Graham Williamson has confirmed that it is Jerry Harper in his opinion. This is what he said:
"I worked in the pottery for about 3 years in the early 70's.
In the end I took over from the main potter who was a guy called Jerry Harper.
I am guessing your vase was a piece that Jerry made but wanted to stamp it with his own mark as well, hence the J.
It is unusual and is certainly not main stream work from the pottery (the glazes are not ones I recognise).
Although I can't remember his personal stamp I would be pretty sure that everything points to it being Jerry's"

I looked through Jerry Harper's work and I think we can safely say, in all probability, it is one of his.
