carved letter opener soldier on motor bike

An unusual one !! Can't find anything similar so asking for any ideas

Hand carved two tone wood ? ebony letter opener. I thought when I first saw it that it was the usual ' tribal' African tourist piece but was surprised to see that it represents a soldier in uniform with rifle, haversack etc riding a bicycle or motorbike . The shape of the blade is also unusual .I'm sure it's not British but may be wrong . Has anyone seen anything like it

 . TIA

I think your instincts are correct and it's African. Possibly Tanzanian, judging from the wood. Made by someone with a bit of imagination rather than the usual traditional styles.

Just my personal opinion, take it or leave it.
