I think it's probably John Brooke Steel, though most of his work is much more elaborate and folkloric than this.

Thanks. I'm just following up hb, I've found another example of his mark and it looks spot on....but I see what you mean about the style.

I've tried to contact through the email on a leaflet "New Images Of The Green Man" but it just bounced back.
Does anyone know any more recent information? he is very local to where I lived and he looks just like my old Art teacher, coincidentally... Mr Steel, but his beard was not so grey then and he was a potter. Just a thought.

ID help please. This is a strange one, I can find very little like this on searching. I'm not sure if something is missing from the display on the rim.
