Re: Minton / Mintons, Stoke (Staffs)
various marks were used to denote the date up to 1942 from 1943 onwards this was discontinued being replaced by figures denoting the year of production , preceded by a number allocated to the actual maker of the piece , number 1 was given to the leading plate maker and plates he produced had stamped in the clay 1-76, the last two digits are the year , so yours is 1958 , from 1992 they were made in asia , this from cushions pottery book , Ed

Minton posy vase, 1976 - design info?
Curious to know if anyone has come across this design before?
Marked Minton OA.1976, the painter is simply a question mark, even though it's finally drawn with pink and green enamelled panels, done by hand (the photos don't do justice to the finely stippled shading). It must be someone with a very steady hand.

Re: Minton / Mintons, Stoke (Staffs)
I'd think it may have been a blank someone bought to decorate themselves.

Re: Minton / Mintons, Stoke (Staffs)
Maybe, although last night I found something similar (hand drawn horse and rider with pink and greeny-blue enamel decoration) on ebay last night described as having "OA-1978 with Minton backstamp and two decorators marks" so maybe it was a test piece for a new range that didn't get into production because of the time it took to complete each piece.

Further to the original post, here's the other Minton posy vase.
Same colour enamels, but the pictures are transfer printed rather than hand drawn, which suggests the first one was a trial piece. There are some gaps in the lines which suggests that they would have had production problems with an overly complicated design like the first one.

Here's an 8" tall vase from around 1905...

Re: Minton / Mintons, Stoke (Staffs)
Neither of the exact marks are shown in Goddens.
Your date range on the first vase is correct.
The second vase looks like secessionist ware, and the number in the little circle
looks like an 8, for 1908.

Nice tile c1870-1880. Could even loosely be attributed to Christopher Dresser.
Minton & Co encaustic tile
Encaustic tile stamped Minton & Co Patent Stoke Upon Trent
Not sure if this should be in the Minton Hollins thread or the Mintons thread...

Re: Minton / Mintons, Stoke (Staffs)
There's a B&B mark and the word looks like New Stone rather than Ironstone. By Spode or one of its contemporaries I think

Looks like Minton to me - as you say B.B New Stone which was an impressed mark for Minton on earthenware 1830-1860

BB, in the context of mid 19th century pottery, is usually an abbreviation of 'best body'.

I have been wondering about getting a tattoo and that has pushed me closer to making a decision
