I've had a few previously and they are all blue stamp rather than studio pieces which I find strange.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
they could have been made on the week of the transition from studio to blue stamp

I have only ever really been a casual observer of Poole Pottery. Had some over the years, but it has always gone onwards. How is it doing lately?

Philpot, the answer could be quite long as there are so many different periods which come in and out of fashion, some periods/designs are in the doldrums whilst others can make silly money. Early studio is doing well while the last big / rare piece of traditional made £5300 hammer only recently.

Wasn’t that written mark used post-2000s?

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
I think you may be getting mixed up with ' Studio Poole' pieces which are made on the quay at Poole. They are a private venture that started after the original Poole shop/factory outlet closed after the lease was up and wasn't renewed by the owners ( Denby ). They have been going for a couple of years and I assume they have permission to remake some older patterns. They sell a lot through ebay.
Definately an early studio piece c.1963.

Who do you think did it, Dan? I've read that Tony Morris didn't decorate small dishes, but this looks like his work to me.

Firstly I can say for certain that Tony was a little confused at Cottees when he said that. I have seen plenty of smaller pieces that he signed. We need to remember that he was quite ill at that time.
As for your recently acquired gem. There's a similar 8 inch Tony Morris plate showing early use of the orange red-glaze brought back by Tony Morris and Guy Sydenham from their trip to Vallauris in France in 1966. that can be found here

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
I haven't posted anything for quite a while (mainly because I haven't bought anything interesting) but I did buy this the other day which is pretty unusual. It's a large black clay vase (10.5in) in a type of decoration that I haven't seen before - it's got applied flowers and seedpods but the fine stems and leaves seem to be made by scraping the surface clay into the required shape. It seems to be a one-off Atlantis vase but is not signed - or the signature has been filled in by glaze.
The petals are very delicate and stick out a long making it totally impractical as a vase so I can only assume it was made for a display or to trial techniques.
Has anyone come across anything similar?

pretty sure it's a one-off Kurt. and could be Tony or Guy or both
