Okay, looks like my little dish may have been a survenier (I can't make it spell correctly) from the family's time in Vienna. My great grandfather was a minister for the Church of Scotland in the British embassy in Vienna.

No, that was the spelling in the early 20th century. Some words which now are spelled with I were spelled with J.
