I have seen this maker's mark before i was watching an item on ebay with the same makers mark on a studio pottery sleeping dachshund poppy pretty much like 6 month ago or so and the seller did not know the maker.. but sold for over 365 pounds i can remember, i have search the net to try and locate the seller maybe the buyer most have told him the maker.. but no luck

Not R Sunny but D on top of M.

David Melville, who makes pots in a number of styles. Based in the Medway area of Kent.

If the dog model on Ebay was by him, I suspect that he would be a little cheesed off, as he sells his pots very cheaply i.e. more like £3.65 than £365.

Stoneware, tenmoku glaze. Embossed R mark.

Mark looks like David Melville, Clay and glaze is probably right, but not like anything I've seen by him.

Have just had a reply from David Melville stating he's ' guilty as charged ' in that he did commissions alongside his one offs. He can't remember making it but says it's the way he models and the mark is his

Just to add a note that there's an entry on the Studio Pottery website for David Melville that is incorrect. He says he has never used this DM mark -

Picked this up thinking it looked a bit Dartington . Searched for mark and it bears a close resemblance to David Melville's - but NO resemblance to his work!

I'm aware that there has been discussion elsewhere on here about the similarity of his mark to others. So I would be very grateful for any thoughts on this piece. Thanks as usual
