A tobacco jar would have a tight seal on the lid, so I don't think so. It is modern, could be 20th century but more likely 21st century and factory made as Naomi says.

Crazing isn't always a sign of age. It is likely that the jar would have been cooled slightly too quickly after leaving the kiln. The reason for saying that it is fairly new is that the white unglazed clay on the foot absorbs dirt and grim very easily and yours looks quite clean.

Could be Japanese Kyo ware. I've recently seen teabowls with the same pattern and colours.

Naomi is correct. The decoration is that used on some pottery from Kyoto i.e. Kyo ware.
