Leo Enna, Denmark
Hello everyone,
Any help with the identification of this piece will be much appreciated, I have been going around in circles for some time!
This is a 4`’ wide pottery item, I have no idea what its use is. The top is a wavy design, with 3 birds on the pot itself, rendered in blue and white. To my untrained eye, it is vaguely reminiscent of Delft or Royal Copenhagen.
There are no traditional markings on it, but on the reverse there is some text. It looks like “Leo Emma, DANMARK, 1693 LB”. I am pretty sure that its not “Emma”, but I can’t describe it any other way.
There is also a hole drilled in the back, and I think it was wall mounted at some point. I don’t know if this was after it was made, or part of the original design. The pottery itself seems rather soft.
Thank you in advance,
Kind regards,
Dan

A wall pocket. Possibly folkware. I've looked up the date but there didn't seem to be much going on in 1693 in Denmark (a Turkish siege on Vienna), so may be a family memento, recalling the marriage of Leo and Emma. Maybe made in 1993 to mark the 300th anniversary.

Could well be made in 1993 as Naomi suggests but certainly 20th century, although not typical of Danish pottery from that period that we are familiar with in the UK.
L B seem to be the initials of the maker but I haven't got any suggestions.

It's reminiscent of Rorstrand's Blue Bird design. May be worth checking to see if it's the same artist.

It's not Leo Emma but Leo Enna:

Well spotted HB.
He appears to have had a studio in South Jutland from the late 1940s with a number of decorators working for/with him. LB is clearly one of them.
