this is a lovely well made piece about 7" high , i am thinking scandanavian but not sure at all it has an incised signature very very difficult to make out any ideas of origin would be a great help

Looks like a " between the first two letters.

Could the second word be handarbeit?

German or Hungarian, maybe?

Sweden use letters:

å ä ö, Å Ä Ö
instead of dots an line is used ontop sometimes, -

Norway and Denmark use:

æ ø å, Æ Ø Å
