Berey / Beresford Pealing

It's a wonderful name or is it a disease?

Berey was a friend of Alan Wallwork when Alan lived in the Lyme Regis area (he sold Alan's work from a little place he had by the Cob as well as his own and other local artists

i'm sure this is a mark that has come up several times on the forum, but not being in possession of a good memory, i've drawn a blank.

Interesting vase - looks like Leach mark?

It doesn't look like the sort of thing they'd make. Can't quite make out the mark. It's worth photographing it in different lights and at different angles to throw the mark into shadow and make it a bit clearer. Looks a little bit like BP. for Berey Pealing

I'd forgotten about this one - yes it is Berey Pealing.

Slipware bowl, "eat drink and be merry" round the rim, mark on back.

Looks like the mark of Beresford Pealing or Peeling, seems to be some confusion online with the spelling. It's spelt with the 'A' in BSPM

Hi everyone, my favourite person picked this one up as it reminded her of a Devon shoreline and should be admired on a shelf, which is nice but I would prefer it as a receptacle for beer! The top speckled half reminds me of Purbeck pottery
It has a pretty distinctive stamp of three circles and a dot with a vertical dividing line - can I please use it for beer or does it have to go on a shelf with the other unidentified pieces of which we have a few! Any pointers much appreciated

Good old BP - I have seen some of his stuff before but not with such a clear mark and Lyme Regis is not so from Devon - one up for my favourite person!

Beresford Pealing - I remember him! Big dark brown beard! He had a pottery in a mill building - Harnham Mill in Salisbury - in the 1970's, when I was a student at the teacher training college there ('71-75).

I think he’s still going strong despite the advancing years :)
