The glaze looks similar to Hastings Pottery, but that's not their mark . Having a month and year and potters initials often indicates it's a student piece.

Thanks Naomi for your speedy reply : ). I wondered why it had been dated and your suggestion makes perfect sense. Oh dear I'm getting so addicted and buying so much stuff, my house is looking like Steptoe's living room.
