I got this a few months ago and quite honestly it is shot to bits.
I like birds though so I bought it.
I have no idea about it, can anybody help. Thanks. (pics below)

Looks like Chinese or Japanese. Due to the fine crazing it appears to be glazed earthenware rather than porcelain, which would point to Japanese satsuma ware. Possibly 1930s, painted in the Western style.

Thanks Naomi, the dome thing at the top that holds the bulb holder seems like an add on ( I think metal and all the filler around it is falling out) and the base look like its been cut out to accommodate the flex.
I was thinking it was probably a vase originally.

It's possible. It's an odd shaped base. as though the potter has stuck a vase and a bowl together. Maybe they just weren't used to making lamps and cobbled something together for the retailer?

I would agree with Naomi and the suggestions made later in this thread are all feasible.

Yes it is an odd shape, the birds are nicely painted though I think they've made them up!

No, they're proper geese. Nicely painted.

I've got loads of bird books and was trying to id the geese (species), just for my own amusement. Could not find it.
