Looks like one of the mahogany woods. So I suspect it's Indonesian.

There is evidence of wear on the base. I would guess mid 20th Century, rather than late 19th.

thanks naomim looks more like it.... was going throw some 19th century pieces online i was amazed with the quality and the carving... very exquisitely made item's and just oozes quality all throw i most say.... did not know some of the very early pieces and rare king gorge the 2 goblet could fetch a lot of money.....this Victorian ere people!! really are master's in craftsmanship... thanks guys and good night :)
