I cannot see how this particular bowl can be purbeck when it clearly states on the base Poole with a reg. mark(61B). The bowl is also slightly different to mine in shape. Since both bowls are very similar but with a significant size difference, my question is, can ex-employees manufacture the same style bowl under a different company name making ref. to copyright?

I have found the item that you are referring to and the seller has a Poole Pottery dish for sale as well. What they have done is put the same picture of the underside of the Poole Pottery dish on both the listings, I imagine by mistake. So the base picture on their Purbeck Pottery dish is not that dish's bottom.

No idea but logically they have only uploaded one incorrect image to their Purbeck listing so you would expect their other details to be correct. You would need to contact them to find out for sure.

I think you mean correct image. It is more than likely that it is a genuine mistake but you never can tell these days, especially with some items I've seen listed on ebay incorrectly. Well, thanx all the same for letting us aware. Most Excellent

On the seller's Purbeck listing the front of the dish is the correct image but the back of the dish is the incorrect image. On their Poole listing, both images of the front and back are correct.

But, as you say, you can never be sure on there.

I've just measured my Purbeck bowl and it's also 6 3/4 inches by 2 inches, so its only the picture of the base thats wrong.
I've notified the seller of his mistake.

To add, I see this bowl has been relisted several times. He didn't pick up the mistake, and it's overpriced.
One to miss.

Referring to Ebay Item no. 261192479923, their size is 5 3/4", which I was assuming meant the Poole bowl, as the Purbeck bowl appears smaller on their images.

This would indicate to me that my bowl is smaller than yours. In inches my bowl measures approx. 5". So my question is, did Purbeck make these bowls in different sizes? Happy

As for whether or not they made them in different sizes, yes, and varying shapes -

Aparrently this set was bought in the late 80's early 90's from the Purbeck Pottery shop on the Quay in Poole .
Verry unusual to say the least .

A lovely footed bowl from Purbeck hand painted by Sheila Drew, dating from the mid 70's , i think quite pretty in its simplicity.

I've only seen pictures but, yup, RJ it was. Most Excellent

There is a picture of the Poole monogram (small rj) in the Poole book and a picture of the Purbeck monogram (capital RJ) in the "Quiet Virtuoso" book by Rena Jefferson p34. I guess I can't scan those here because of copyright.
