Jack Doherty
Jack Doherty was born in 1948 and is currently head potter at the new Leach St Ives Pottery. I saw this porcelain yunomi at a show called 'The Joy of Food' at the Lund Gallery, Easingwold September 2011. It has a porcelain slip with copper carbonate which gives it the most amazing soft smoky surface. 8.7cm (height). His personal website is www.dohertyporcelain.com
I bought this older piece by Jack as part of a lot from Alastair Hawtin's sale last year. I wasn't so taken with it (and needed the money) so sold it on. It is also porcelain but I believe it is soda vapour glazed. Alastair contacted me to congratulate me on the price I'd got much to my embarrassment, I emailed him back explaining it allowed me to keep other pieces from his collection and how much I admired his book . Sorry don't have size but c15-20cm (height).

Re: Jack Doherty
Not sure if it's public knowledge but I don't think Jack is in St. Ives any more.

Re: Jack Doherty
I don't know the reason but I am sure working for a committee can't have been easy.

Re: Jack Doherty
At the time he was working near Ross on Wye but more recently he ran the Leach Pottery in St. Ives and now pots in Mousehole, Cornwall.
