Sowerby, Langdale, Lake district

I had a small dish with the same decoration with just the Sowerby signature and was never able to find out anything about it. That was a few years ago though, something may have have come to light since then.

Llanfair ym Muallt pottery seems to throw up similar-ish styles too

Price is in pounds, shillings and pence so definitely from that era.

Sowerby Lansdale vase

"Langdale" certainly seems more likely: the technique on these pieces looks like a looser version of the one used at Ambleside Pottery, which is in that area. Unlikely to have anything to do with the Langdale Pottery in Hanley, though.

When I spotted the vase I was sure it was Ambleside. Very surprised to find it signed Sowerby. Maybe an Ambleside decorator set up their own pottery.
