Trying to find out a little more on this item but chinese and japanese stuff is so vast I need a starting point. Can anyone help please

i could be wrong.. but if this is Chinese then i have seen a similar mark on your vase on gortheborg.com and that mark is similar to your's..... dated 1990 my advise to you is to take it to an auction house close to you they should be able to tell you.

I think Sunny is correct in that it is Japanese Satuma ware from maybe 1900 to 1925. It was exported to the West in vast quantities at that time.

Called Satsuma after the port that the pots were shipped from. I'm not an expert but your vase might be in the Kyoto style and originated from there.

oooooooooooooooooo lovely thanks, I frequent the Gotheborg site quite a bit and always come off it googly eyed after browing all their marks. I shall have to have another visit there and check again. I am absolutely hopeless and differentiating chinese and japanese stuff

when your buying alway look for sign of age.. but this oriental stuff trust me they are very clever... they can make an item and make it look like it was late 18th and you might fall for it just always look for sign of age
