Silver hallmark for I.D please
Could anyone please shed any light on this hallmark please !, i believe it to be George the third somewhere between 1786 and 1821 !.
the lozenge to the right of the pic appears to be a V & a worn S !. Thank you in advance for your invaluable help. Alan.

Looks like a q date stamp for 1791 or 1831 - probably the former.

Re: Silver hallmark for I.D please
It is hallmarked for London, 1791.
The maker could be one of those on the lost London registers and I do not have my large Jacksons book here to check if it is listed in there, but you could contact the London assay office to see if they may know who the maker is, I have asked before in the past http://www.thegoldsmiths.co.uk/welcome-to-the-assay-office/

Re: Silver hallmark for I.D please
Your welcome, most Georgian silver that has no assay town mark usually is from the London assay office, unless the lion passant mark is the Exeter lion (not seen that often - differing punch from the standard passant mark slightly).
I collect Georgian silver and have gained quite a bit of knowledge about it over the last few years - probably too much sometimes!
