Shona soapstone carving, Zimbabwe Empty Shona soapstone carving, Zimbabwe

WHO MADE THIS SPLIT FACE SCULPTURE IS THIS HENRY MOORE OR ORIENTAL PIECE? THERE IS A SIGNATURE TO THE BASE STARTING WITH H AND THE REST I CAN'T REALLY MAKE IT OUT... I HAVE LOOK AT THE LAST LETTER WITH MICROSCOPIC LENS LOOKS LIKE M BUT NOT CERTAIN.

I would guess african , the base looks like pieces I have from the Shona tribe Zimbabwe , but Hey Ho I might be way off the mark Laughter

Agreed. It looks as though there's a colour wash over the surface of the sculpture which is typical of Shona work.

Shona artists carve their works of art from verdite, serpentine stone and other materials indigenous to the Sub-Saharan region.
