Michael Mosse Llanbrynmair in Wales.
........................
Michael Mosse studied ceramics at Bristol Polytechnic in the late 1960s, and worked at Tregaron pottery, Wales in the early 70s.
In 1976 he joined Alan Caiger-Smith at Aldermaston and stayed there for two years. After leaving Aldermaston he went back to Wales and worked for about eighteen months at Cambrian Stoneware in Llanidloes, whilst building a wood fired kiln in preparation to starting his own pottery.
In 1980 he and his wife Joanna started their own pottery, M & J Mosse in Llanbrynmair, Wales. Their work was mainly slip and sgraffito decorated salt glazed stoneware
Hand thrown and hand painted on a stone coloured background. Featuring a busty lady dancing with a large bull frog.

I've found a few over the years, but they're becoming far more popular now and more difficult to find.

I was lucky to find this mug with this particular cat on it because I think that this is one of the greatest bits of artistic expression I have ever seen - the pride and love and protectiveness that this cat has for the other is an exact reflection of what I feel when I look at my children, and it's all done in wet clay on a mug!!!!

Michael Mosse
A lovely handleless pouring cup with stylised fish jumping waves. The Michael Mosse thread I've seen looks to be very similar in style....but the mark, Is this his do you think?...only I thought it was 'something W' I was convinced it was the way someone would tail off a W if you look at it the other way around. Then I saw Michael Mosse's ceramics, there's no mistaking...is there?

That's great, thank you so much. I've just looked at the Michael Mosse thread here and it matches very closely one of the marks shown.

A recent purchase for my collection, but not of my usual style I collect but it was so nice. I went mad and bought 5 at one time!!

Marked on the base of the handle a very stylised v and w?
Pink / red based clay?
I've searched through the marks but not come up with anything.
Any suggestions please?
