Leerdam
I purchased this from an online auction. It's a small piece at 2.5" inches tall and 6" inches long, but the glass is quite substantial at a little over an inch thick. It's hard to see in the photo, but along with the unusual encased texture, there are tiny controlled bubbles. I thought it might be Italian, but the Italian glass ash receivers I've seen are usually more garish and not as toned down as this. Did Scandinavian or British glassmakers do hand blown items such as this?

Smoked Glass Goblets Octagon Base - Andries Dirk Copier for Leerdam
Hi firstly what a great forum, Im very glad I found it - thank you for being here.
I thrifted a set of 6 goblets today and I am unable to identify the maker. The etched mark on the bottom appears to be a C with a dot adjacent to a right angle. The goblets are nice quality with a beautiful bell ring to them, although each glass has a different tone. I suspect there is some lead glass content. They appear to be blown and ground. I suspect they are from the 70's or 80's the base of each glass has some wear and scratching to it. They are quite heavy about 500g each. and have a great balance in the hand.
Does anyone recognize the mark?

Re: Leerdam (Holland)
Reminds me of Carl Erickson's controlled bubble glass paperweights, but could be Murano

Re: Leerdam (Holland)
Got it .
Spijkerbol Vase by Andres Dirk Copier 1936, high Deco who would have guessed i had them down as Scandinavian but late 50's, and to think i nearly walked away from the at £4, i even said to the seller i should not be so tight after handing the money over and telling me her partner had bought them at auction some years ago but i dont normally listen to the rubbish that booters spout , but she seemed genuine , any way happy days.

Re: Leerdam (Holland)
Are you sure someone hasn't just been playing with enamel paints on an empty glass bottle?

I thought that but the mark in 20th Century factory Glass is more exact than that displayed and the dots are not in the same place though of course variants from the book mark is often common I thought there was enough to rule it out.

Very nice piece. There are several examples on the Botterweg Auctions, Amsterdam, website.

Andries Dirk Copier. Leerdam Glass
Hello. I appreciate (rather than collect) C20th glass, but should be grateful if any member can i.d. the mark on this heavy controlled bubbles piece. I'm a volunteer at my local Cancer Research shop and it's my job to flag up antiques/collectables so they don't slip through the net! Many thanks in advance for any pointers.

Re: Leerdam (Holland)
Brilliant - many thanks. Armed with your info, I find that it is a piece by Andries Dirk Copier. Leerdam released just 125 in 2004, of which this is one. There is currently one on eBay for 275 Euros, so now we just have to sell ours

Re: Leerdam (Holland)
Always check completed listings on eBay for an idea of value. Many dealers put items on at inflated prices to make them look cheaper when selling at fairs etc at a “discount”. And having worked and shopped at a Charity shops for many years I would advise pricing it at 50% less than eBay sale prices unless you want it sitting around for months on end unsold.

Yes, I agree re eBay - will be listing much lower and let it find its own level.
