At least Jim Malone was confident at being able to produce a proper handle.
Everyone else dipped out, took the easy way out, and bought in a cane one,
including my D Leach porcelain example.

A potter said they went with cane handles because the teapots took up less room in the kiln. Most potters did both; canes and handles.
