2 Aleluia coffee or liquor cups from the 50's.

50's Aleluia bottle with cups. 19cm tall.

Aleluia small tile showing a "varina" (traditional portuguese woman who sells fish). Probably from the 50's. 10x10cm

Aleluia vase from the 50's (1955). Supposedly marked with 684-a if it wasn't that damn hole to do a lamp of it. 12,5 x 34 cm tall.

Aleluia decorative tile with hanging support. Probably from the 50's. 15cmx7,5cm.

Aleluia jewelry box from the end of 40's beginning of 50's. 11,5cm diameter X 9cm tall.

Aleluia vase from the end of 40's, beginning of the 50's. 11cm diameter by 15,5cm tall.

This was found at a car boot sale in Cambridge. I've been looking hard but I can't find another.....
It has a wonderful bright blue interior which is only just visible. Quite striking from whichever angle it is viewed.

I suppose it's marked 721-A, but I would like to confirm.
Is it about 23 cm high?

Interestingly there are two little stroke marks inside the ALELUIA printed ring.Would these give a clue to the decorator?

Yes, that is the decorator's mark.

The vase is from a range developed in the 60's.

This one is missing the lid...

..with all those colours and the bold (startling) designs, I wonder if it was a happy place to work?

...and I can't believe how difficult it is to get hold of this stuff. Not a single piece has been on ebay for at least 50 years as far as I can make out.

as far as I know, it was a very modern and well organized place to work.
But, what is happiness?

I have the same problem Steve... I'm always terrified by the possibility of an earthquake, as I live in Lisbon, and my pots don't seem to care at all...

My Aleluia pots number the grand total of ......one.
Pottery has been an all-consuming interest for the passed 30 years and then I found a watch in a local junk shop. It cost less than £1 and had KM SELZA on the dial. I'm afraid to say that I have been blown of B.Leach's straight and narrow onto a parallel course where there are wondrous things wherever I look. I now have very modest collections ( i.e more than one piece but less than five) of: military watches; Selza watches; plastic bangles from the 50s-80s; Clarice Cliff; Mabel Leigh;Le Vaucour pottery; Rotary watches; Leach, Hamada and Shimaoka; Beano; Westclox Bakelite timepieces. This means a world of learning to do on each subject, and a degree of excitement, when I go to boot sales or Antique fairs, which borders on .........well let's just say I'm smiling.
There really is so much good stuff out there. All it takes is interest to turn it into gold.

It would be interesting if a decent piece came up on ebay. The last one went for £6 I think but that was a while ago.

Isn't it about time we had a sensible discussion about this stuff and the fact that it seems not to exist. Am I dreaming this thread? And how could I tell if I was?
