Elias Alvarez, Somo, Cantabria, Spain

I thought  this might be Spanish because Somo, from the small info I get on the net, appears to be an area/town with a pottery history. However I've not unearthed much at all in my searching despite this being clearly signed

thanks Dan. I had initially thought also maybe Mexico but Somo is definitely in Spain.
I find it so difficult trying to find anything on Spanish ceramics unless they are traditional.

Info on spanish ceramics/ potters is almost non-existant, Pity

They will catch up at some point but Spain doesn't rush

oh thanks Ed - I was beginning to think I wasn't using the right key words because absolutely zilch comes up. I've tried some in Spanish as well although my Spanish is quite limited, but still not a lot. Rather frustratingly I've spotted another piece of his work but no further information just a pic. Well I'll add it to the growing list of unidentified until further notice
