Is this a makers mark or just decoration?
Im sure I've seen something like this before but cant remember where or who the maker was, is this a makers mark or just for decoration? the base has a concave polished pontil (different to Whitefriars)

I would imagine it's decor, I can't see a maker putting a large signature on a piece like that IMO

I don't know maker Rob , however I have noticed some danish pieces do indeed have signature seals on them , so maybe it is a signature , just shows how much I know

Maybe this is danish then Ed, but if it was I'm sure Pip or Nic would of said if they have seen this thread. I will look at danish now to see what i can find.
Thanks rob.

Re: Is this a makers mark or just decoration?
I know the kind of thing Ed means - Jacob Bang did a few bits with applied seals bearing his 'JB' monogram for Kastrup.
But this isn't Danish.
The shape and applied decoration remind me of pieces produced by PLUS Glashytte, Norway, in the 1970s - but I'm not 100% sure.

Don't thank me just yet - you may still spend lots of time looking at Norwegian glass for no good reason!
There are some of the applied seal pieces here, but nothing really in the same shape / colour as yours:

I've just been looking on Pip's threads on Mdina and sure enough there is one very similar to this one but this wouldn't be Mdina would it? thought they have flat polished base's unlike the one pictured above.

Could this be Italian Empoli?
