Amethyst bowl, Anyone know these marks?
Hi,
This has clear marks to the base also with the trace of a label but unfortunatly any clues to who made this has long been washed away, does anyone recognise RPE 80 A1 which is clear to see in the pic,
dia is approx 16 cm.
Thanks,
rob s

I'm afraid I don't know what the marks are or who made this but my hunch (and it's no more than that) is that the quality and colour suggest Finnish production to me - although I know this isn't one of the Kaj Franck designed bowls because the bases on those are quite distinctively indented.

My first thought was Caithness, as I know they did very similar-looking dessert sets in the late 1960s... but I'm not sure how the signature would tie in with that, so I'm likely way off the mark.
