more unidentified glass

Post by vanmann on Thu Jul 01, 2010 5:30 pm

Following the success of my previous request I thought I'd chance my arm with another couple of pieces. I was told that these were probably brought back from Italy in the 1970's. Don't know if that is true but I know the owner did bring a lot of other glass back about then. Purple piece is 22cms long by 9 cms tall, orange pieceis 15 cms tall. Neither are marked. Thanks very much John

John, best to post each thing separately please.

Love the top pic, but the bottom one looks like something I had a while ago - so probably Chinese

Don't worry about that John, we're fine with lots of posts

Hi John

Yes please in future as Sue has said, separate posts per item - you might want to give them slightly more descriptive titles as well (e.g. blue/purple bowl or orange/cased fluted vase) because obviously most stuff in this area of forum is unidentified and being more descriptive could generate more interest in your post - but that's up to you of course.

One last thing (so sorry to be so full of rules!) but we always need shots of the base in identification requests - this is because you can tell an awful lot about the production methods from the base and this can help lead to an identification or even ruling someone out.

You can bung the base shots for these two here in this thread.

Cheers.

I'm thinking Czech for the blue/purple bowl thing possibly - no idea about the other one - am looking forward to seeing base shots.

I'd deffo plump for Czech for the first one - it *could* be Murano but the colours look more Czech to my eye. It could also be Chalet (a Canadian company set up by ex Murano glassworkers) but you see very little Chalet in this country so I don't think so.

Absolutely no idea about the orange one - sorry.

I would agree with Pip on the first one, has a Chribska look to it.
