Oil on board signed S Safdar. The board has made in Sweden and a paper label S Safdar Ali - cannot find anything about the artist but I love this large painting.

Could be Dan , could be , after it has collided with a corsa ,sounds about right , but to be fair there was loads of these abstract type paintings on the go , so mit probably doesn't mean anything .

it is not a reclining, but a standing woman, with something like a big bowl in her hands. What is shown as the left side of the pic is really the base.

Paintings can be signed anywhere the artist chooses - there are no hard and fast rules!

Better late than never.
This morning I was looking through a book about Pakistani and Bangladeshi art and came across the artist Safdar Ali.
I have many other books on Pakistani and Bangladeshi art but this artist only features in this particular book.
Your link is the only one to the artist that I've come across on the web.
So it seems that he is a forgotten artist of this region (from the 50's onwards).
If you were to think about selling the painting do let me know.
