Melitta ...

Post by boavista1952 on Wed Jun 18, 2008 4:30 pm

Have had this set for a number of years now and decided to dust it off and get rid ... I have tried to get some idea of the age and further info on the German manufacturer 'Melitta' from searching the internet to no avail other than discovering 'Melitta' being really big in Coffee Filtration :con1:

Would be grateful for any further info on the maker and possible age of this design/pattern ...

Many thanks

It is Form 29 Budapest, and I think Sternorn. grün, which has the number 2907. Budapest I am sure of, but I am not so sure about the grün and therfore the number. It was discontinued on 31.12.1971, but I do not know from when they made this. They did also do Budapest in a number of colours and designs. Regards, Monica

Thanks Monica ... that has been most helpful.

I have checked each item including the cups, saucers and plates that I have in this set and the number 29 does appear on the bottom of the sugar bowl but all the other pieces have a range of numbers such as 32, 39, 40, 46 and on one plate only it has the number 46 with a series of numbers 22.28.29

Excellent

Hi Mike, take a look at this, there the form is certainly documented, and I also have a Melitta Cd with far more information, which is where I checked the decor.

Somewhere there is also a page of a lady who collects Melitta and has masses of fotos but not so much infos, I will see if I can find her again.

Established 1905 by Melitta Bentz, more known for her invention of Coffee filters, but Melitta produced a plethora of decorative and tableware ceramics.
