Rosenthal - Bjorn Wiinblad designs

The Wiinblad Xmas plate for 1983

As we have lots of Wiinblad designs scattered around I thought it was time to start a thread dedicated to all things Wiinblad.




This piece is from the Rosenthal studio-linie,a wonderful shape with fantastic moulded details and tansfer decoration that I guess reflects the time and country in which it was made.

Rather uninspiring design-wise ... boxed pair of Bjorn Wiinblad Studio-Linie egg-cups.

Rosenthal/Bjorn Wiinblad plates from the 'Aladdin' series.

Lidded 'Quatre Couleurs' jar.

'Romanze' coffee pot and sugar bowl.

They have a round ring support on the base.






North, West, East, & South wall plaques.

Does anyone have an idea on who the designer was for this lamp base by Rosenthal. It looks very much like Hutschenreuther, but has the Rosenthal biscuit on the base.

I believe Rosenthal imported stuff as well , that glaze is very similar to some bertoncello pieces.

that was my immediate thought too

if I remember right it's a design by wiinblad (most times attributed to him)
but could be by fischer treyden design as well....

I now think its deffo by wiinblad and I do appologize my idea of fischer treyden

I'm 100% sure it's wiinblad...

You could well be right , I don't get the "from the collection of wiinblad" that that site keeps on about , you don't surely "collect" your own stuff , also how come there's no wiinblad sig on the lamp up for ID , could be these mass produced lamps were his design form , purchased by Rosenthall ,not sure about glaze as that is random .

yeah , that was my tongue in cheek k point

actually there are lots of rosenthal items with artist signature but you can also find the same shaped ones without this signature... not only on wiinblad designs for rosenthal...
also freyer, scheid and designs by many others can be found with and without the artist signature....
most times the stamp just says rosenthal studio line germany

wiinblad is known also for his expressive use of colors on ceramics like shown on this lamp
and not only for his aladin or romance series....

even it is difficult to design a drip glaze this lamp is deffo a wiinblad design...

you will never find a karl scheid queensberry marble vase which is 100% like the other....

Yes , I take your points , but you cannot design a drip glaze ,the very fact that it is called drip suggests the randomness of it , without the glaze these pieces are all the same form , it's only the glaze that is unique .

You can't, admittedly, design a drip-glaze, but you can design the colour combinations and the approximate parts of the form to which it is applied.

I have to distinguish the designers/series of a lot of Holmegaard swirly glass stuff this way.
