Probably not so well known as other collections, The Ken Stradling Collection is a major collection of Studio Pottery, Art Glass, and Crafts housed in a building in Park Street Bristol. Open for viewing on Wednesdays. It is the personal collection of Ken Stradling and his late wife Betty. Ken Stradling was the Manager, Director and Buyer for the Bristol Craft Guild from 1948 onwards. They had a large prominent shop in Park Street Bristol, and specialised in British Crafts of every description. They are still there, but now part of a larger group.
Ken Stradling came into contact with many of the leading British Craft Artists for many years. The eclectic collection is especially strong in post-war British Studio pottery and glass. Well worth exploring the website, with a particularly fascinating Blog.

He was a mean buyer was Mr. S. I never managed to sell him anything despite him coming to the gallery in Greenwich several times.

Ken Stradling worked at the Bristol Guild in Park St in Bristol,  Starting out as a Buyer in 1948 be eventually became Managing Director. The Bristol Guild was a retail shop that specialised in Design and Crafts, and studio pottery there for many years. The collection is housed in a building near the shop. We visited it some time ago and it was terrific. Well worth  booking a tour of  it if you are ever in Bristol . The Bristol Guild is still there, but has changed its retail horizons somewhat.
