Tall Nouveau style vase, unmarked - ID

Unusual tall pottery vase (36cm), Nouveau in style. It is tubelined, one side has a foliate design and the other a male figure. The base has no visible markings (to me anyway).

That is amazing. Certainly looks early 20th Century but I’ve not come across anything like it before.

Thanks NaomiM. I thought the same when I saw it and had to have it!! There is one maker that sprang to mind, Della Robbia but think that is simply a pipe dream. There is a lot of work gone into it whoever made it.

I’ve had a couple of Della Robbia vases and they’re both fully marked. It’s possible it was a trial piece.

So, not totally out of the question? I will email the Della Robbia gallery in Birkenhead and see what they say. I will update here of course.

It might be worth checking Wileman & co "Intarsio ware",
but I have a feeling it could be continental.

Just found some pieces with a very similar finish by THOMAS FORESTER & SONS, PHOENIX WARE. The use of gold on their pieces, the thick painted glaze etc are the same. I will delve deeper.

Update, just found another the same as mine, also unmarked but the seller is attributing it to Thomas Forester. They state it as Trogon Ware and possibly designed by Ronald Dean.
