Nice little coffee cup. Probably would have had a saucer.

Briglin mug. Unmarked. The second one below in the thumbnails had the stamp but was too badly cracked to keep.

It's so helpful to have original material like this catalogue of Briglin's 'Standardwares'. As far as I can tell it dates from about 1976.

if anyone has any other printed material then please contact me.

An oddball item, rather crudely made, 4 in high.

A cute little Briglin pin dish, 9 cms across, with a baby bear.  Haven't seen one like this before.

DD - I used to think the rolled top were storage jars but on that brochure from 1976 similar items as yours are described as "brush pots"

R&F - Early these. They keep coming in unusual animals like your little bear. Certainly 50s. Not seen a bear before but they did the whole gamut.

What do you think of these pair of Briglin Penguins? As I've never seen these one's before? As Briglin Penguins are rare enough as it is!

Anyone got any idea on their value?

I saw Walter write the best explanation of why many prefer not to give valuations. Too high and it causes problem and too low is trouble also.

Link here;

http://italianpotterymarks.freeforums.org/the-reasons-i-do-not-offer-my-opinion-on-values-t1728.html

Racoon - the penguins are early 50s as most Briglin penguins - You did not post a back photo, or a full base photo and I'm having trouble understanding how big they are? 100mm? Need something for scale? I have seen similar bookends before. Not sure if they have slot in the back? = moneyboxes? No photo.  Shrugs Not many come up on ebay. Undamaged pair is good. The 'cuter' they are and the more 'personality' they have the battery they sell. Same with most animals.

N - Probably a remnant of a coffee set. Never seen a full set or even the teapot for this. Usually comes in olive and pale colours so never seen this bright colour before on an tea set (I think). Seem to think I have seen commitments sets is this blue. You normally find just one perhaps two cups - remnants - all that is left. Odd to find four. Studio pottery has an olive x4 also. I don't have any but I'm mostly after full sets nowadays. My assumption because that these are early 50s and got used to hell with not many made.

Thank you both for posting .... both interesting to me. Most Excellent

Value is simply what someone is prepared to pay on the day and is not necessarily what someone is prepared to take. It is usually a range depending on whether the market is on the boil or off the boil or it's a Monday or a full moon, so one cannot be specific. Google Briglin penguins and you'll see a range of values. None are right; none are wrong. Somewhere in one or more of Admin's introductary pinned posts it says we don't give valuations. There are good reasons for this.

Yes Dan, values go up and down. like .... can't thing of anything?  Shrugs

I'm worried - Never 'collect' just because you don't have one of these.... it's a very bad reason to buy.

I've started buying because I have to have all the different colours .....so I do have a piece of early blue briglin...

Alan Wallwork was a good friend of Tony's and at one time tried to get various people interesting in publishing a book about him, his life and work, without success.

SP yes it's a big shame that I can find nothing online about Tony Barson. He's just dropped off the radar. His pieces sell very well on eBay but come up infrequently. All the knowledge is lost apparently? All the pieces I have seen are individual and quirky but there seems to be low volume. .. a great pity that that book was not written.

Been eyeing this on the boot for weeks, but convinced myself today that it's right,
even though it's unmarked. 5 1/2" high.
