incised JBC mark - Jane Butler Cole
Found this bowl at a car boot sale last weekend, a somewhat plain and slightly boring glaze but to my eye it has been very well thrown. The incised initials to the base would usually suggest a hobby potter to me however in my opinion this looks too polished and accomplished for a hobby or even a student potter.

Hi This bowl was potted by a Scottish potter Jane Butler Cole, She paints now I did research ages ago and the research told me that she was a potter but developed and allergy to the clay or something in the clay and stopped potting, she did not veer from art she is also a well known artist and excellent painter I have two of her vases not as plain as your bowl. I will be listing them on Ebay at some point
