ND mark - Neil Alcock, Vineyard Pottery

Hi

An impressive 11.5 inches high vase in dabbled and straight blue gloss glaze. I had originally thought the mark was ND within an oval but looking again I'm no longer sure.

It's a bit like the mark on Winchcombe pots attributed to Nina Davis (who trained at Winchcombe in the '70s), but cant guarantee the attribution.

I was wondering where my normal NaomiM comment was :0) Her current mark is below

Pot pourri holder? Vinegar / oil bottle? Who cares? Best thing about it is the cork.

Impressed mark on the foot (trotter?) SD or CSD. Not sure why I want to know the potter unless it's to send hate mail for creating such a kitsch monstrosity. Three years at art college, countless years honing their skills to produce this. And to think that I spent 30p buying the damn thing   .

End of whinge.

Hahaha, that was my reaction, and coming from such esteemed parents, this seems a little incongruous. I know that marks change over time but her current mark is totally different, too.

I guess everyone has an off day.

Mug marked ND and a mystery mark

Do you mean Nina Davis, Harry and May Davis's daughter. From an informative article on Phil Oliver's site, does not look like her personal mark. She worked at Coxwold late 60's, and Winchcombe in the 70s. Wonder if there is any possibility she used a different mark in another British pottery?http://www.philoliver.com/pottery/nina.htm

Yes, their daughter. Before she moved to New Zealand.

Seems it’s more likely to have been made by Neil Alcock. I’ve found a number of my Nina Davis marks are actually Neil Alcock’s, and he was also at Winchcombe so some of the ND stamps accompanied by the Winchcome stamp may also be by Alcock
