Jennie Hale

Bought for me at a local village fete from a stall selling 'crafty' things - some of them rather good but expensive. I happened to comment that this was intriguing (I didn't like it much) & lo & behold it was mine .....! Certainly a strange piece. Is it evening class potting or something more? I can find no mark.







It looks like some strange bird - an eagle? With all the detail - beak, feet, tail, ears (on a bird?!), eyes etc. someone has put a lot of effort into this.

I don't think it's an evening class piece.

I've seen pots by (I think) this maker attributed as Jennie Hale, but I don't believe I've seen one marked, so I can't be sure. Worth an email in my opinion.

It's Salt Glazed, so would be an earlier piece if it is.

Now confirmed by Jennie Hale as one of hers. It was a salt glaze pot made very soon after she left art college.

Is Potty a pottery genius?

I've also discovered she lives closer to me than I thought & exhibits at a gallery that's closer still. Her more recent work is quite different.
