getting mixed messages about this one: the spongeware, shaped, material, ash in the glaze and footrim are confusing me. Ideas?

This pattern looks familiar. I'm thinking early 19th century tin glazed Italian.

thanks for both your suggestions - it gives me some leads to follow. I have never seen a double foot rim like this, so it was confusing. The gourd shaped made me think it was European, but spongeware decoration is used in many countries.

Yes, thats confusing me as well. Could it point to an early 20th century factory made piece?
I saw some Pennsylvanian spongeware pieces that bore some similarities, but they didn't have the same base.

having looked on Google for Bunzlau pottery, i think Styleinvasion is correct that this piece is German. Found something similar which suggests a date of 1880-1900.
