How do you like your eggs! Empty How do you like your eggs!

Hi
I would be grateful for any thoughts you folks may have as to what this object is.

It is 9cm long and marked EPNS. The depressions on either side are marked BOIL and POACH. My feeling is that it could be a vintage object once used in a hotel ??

I have searched on line, using every combination of search term, without any luck. Have also shown it to many people , none of whom have the foggiest idea !! Help !
