Lobster Pot Empty Lobster Pot

Metal rimmed bowl with lobster and shell moulded design with art nouveau influences. 8” diameter 5” high. Well painted. Unmarked apart from “1518” and three dots.

Plenty of images of lobster bowls online but I’ve not spotted this one.

The metal rim has detached. Any suggestions on re-attaching or should I leave alone?

Sorry, images not great.

A popular subject. Possibly made in Germany, but difficult to know without a manufacturer's mark. I suspect it's late 19th Century before the factories had to mark their pieces.

Stylistically I'm with Studio-pots, tail end of art-nouveau, not quite 'the full Carlton Ware'

The metal band was something that wasn't too uncommon at the time as well. It is the kind of thing I was interested in thirty years ago and I seem to remember having some Myott bowls with metal rims, although they were more Art Deco in shape.

It wouldn't have originally been stuck but pressed on by machine but I am sure there are adhesives around these days that would bond them together. Personally, I would leave it as it is.
