Is this Monart glass? Empty Is this Monart glass?

Hi there. Hoping someone can help to identify a vase I have. I am at a loss really. I think it has a look of English or Scottish because of the ground and polished pontil but then it could be European because of the modern shape. There is a lot of wear under the base. I have some pictures here:-

Lovely vase. I would look towards one of the smaller Scandinavian makers for this, there are many, such as Afors, Ekenas, Johansfors even Hadeland.

Thanks very much for the reply. I have been to look through some websites and found out it is bo borgstrum for Aseda, Swedish glass company, in the 1950s 60s. You have been a real help. It is a lovely vase and seems to be a different shape to anything else I can see. There doesn't appear to be much on there anyway, not in this style. This is such a great web site Happy

That's good, which website and what did you find?
Everything I have been able to find in a similar vein By Borgstrom online and in my books is in grey speckles, no blue or purple like yours.

I doubt yours is from Aseda - the way the enamels are used is different, look at your own close up photos and compare them with the known Aseda examples.

Lots of glassworks have used spots of colour like that. The devil is in the detail.

Really? Oh. I thought it was the same. I'm obviously wanting it to be something. I will keep on looking though. Glad you have given me that feedback, save me going off half cocked. I do that Doh! Embarrassed

Frustrating isn't it? Still, when researching one item you often learn something about another.

Many factories are not well represented on line and that can make their glass difficult to research. Patience is the key, something useful will come along sooner or later.
