Re: Midwinter Pottery
Midwinter Capri Designed on the Fashion shape by Jessie Tait , part of a stunning set of 140 pieces I have bought , very rare to see such a huge amount of desirable midwinter in a single place.

Re: Midwinter Pottery
I feel that much of the retro pottery or less it is truly stunning rare or both prices have drifted considerably in the last 6 years , but the past tells us it will rise like a phoenix to new highs as and when the money returns to the market , time to buy folks , mind you I did pay considerable dollar for this set , but when will you see it again in that amount .

Sorry to butt in amongst the rare and truly wondrous, but does anyone know what this pattern is called?

Heap big smile on face when find this under heap big heap of junk at heap big tiny boot sale this morning on account of incontinence of rain gods. Named after distant tribe of cousins, Cherokee. I wonder when they name one after me - Closefriendofladybuffalo?

Re: Midwinter Pottery
Elstree patterned gravy boat saucer and ladle a very scarce pattern ,not to be confused with the more common Hollywood pattern that has grey stars rather than the blue, this is part of a full dinner service I have been luckily enough to buy from the original owners who bought it in 1958.

Re: Midwinter Pottery
Good news and bad at the boot sale this am. Got these THREE for 50p but nearly got beaten up when I inadvertently went to kiss him in celebration. Funny thing was though, he had loads of expensive or correctly priced militaria, and then these, which he obviously hadn't researched and didn't rate at all (thank the FSM!). I suppose a black eye and 50p is still a bargain.

Re: Midwinter Pottery
I think the "Country Garden" pattern dates from 1968 and it does fit the shape well.

Re: Midwinter Pottery
Here's something that might be of interest. How rare are these pieces? Any info most appreciated.

Re: Midwinter Pottery
A variation of Jessie Tait's Red Domino normally found on the Stylecraft shape , but in this case is a rework on the fashion shape , a nice set although you would expect it to be a 15 piece set .

Re: Midwinter Pottery
There were more pieces but they were crazed or chipped. So maybe it would make sense to sell the pieces individually rather then a part set. Thanks for the info.Eclectic-Dorset wrote:A variation of Jessie Tait's Red Domino normally found on the Stylecraft shape , but in this case is a rework on the fashion shape , a nice set although you would expect it to be a 15 piece set .

Re: Midwinter Pottery
Crazing wasn't uncommon on Midwinter of this period so probably acceptable but chips are never acceptable with me unless prepared from potatoes.

Re: Midwinter Pottery
I can understand the nomenclature with the above Desert Scene pattern but calling this one "Cuban Fantasy" had me scratching my etymologicals,
(not a pretty sight)
