Re: Gordon Baldwin
Have you seen the show that was at York Art Gallery and I think is now touring? So many of his pots it was a bit overwhelming but wonderful too. Good publication went with it as well.
Re: Gordon Baldwin
we could use a pic of his mark

GB plus the date ('74 in this case). Not sure if all are incised as well as painted.

Fascinating 15 minute youtube video of Gordon Baldwin in his studio and the 2012 exhibition at York. The exhibition was quite something, and I still peruse through the book from that one salivating. His work used to be a staple of the auction houses but you do not see it around much lately. He is now 90.

Re: Gordon Baldwin
Baldwin i think is pretty much under rated at present, his work is still relatively affordable in the market place, i feel that a lot of his work although very good is quite bulky and hard to accommodate in any quantity in an average house, his very best sculptural pieces rarely seem to turn up at auction. 90 is a very good age to achieve as most men will be lucky to reach around 80.I find the pieces decorated by his wife quite interesting.

Re: Gordon Baldwin
Baldwin has been a staple of studio pottery auctions for decades. His work has generally sold in the early thousands. The striking thing is that the prices of his work has not shot up in value as has that of many of his contemporaries. I suppose it is really a question of very few new collectors fancying his work.

Re: Gordon Baldwin
Anthony Shaw was a dedicated collector of Baldwin and championed his cause but as you say time has moved on and collectors seem to have lost interest in this type of work, a similar situation exists with the likes of Alison Britton and others, pieces are still selling but not rising significantly. I think Baldwin appeals more to 'art' collectors or people who like that sculptural quality in their ceramics, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be enough of them.
