Textured Glass Jug
Hi
Anyone recognise this at all? Just under 9" tall and about 4" in diameter Regular vertical dashes type texture to top half , circular dimples to bottom. Has mould seam through lip and under handle, handle applied after. Thinking Scandinavian but not sure. Trying to find scandinavian glass catalogues of patents online is proving troublesome so any thoughts or good id links greaty received.

Re: Textured Glass Jug
First instinct, from the production method and the colour of the glass, is that it's possibly modern recycled glass.
Re: Textured Glass Jug
Ah yes now as it happens I do. We had a jug and some hi-ball and low tumblers (now sold - see link below) which had a label saying 'JH Elegance'. We originally thought they might have been English however, after discussing them with Marcus Newhall (a Czech glass researcher/author) it was thought they might be 1960s/70s Czech production but it's only a hunch at the moment and we haven't been able to find out anything else.

Re: Textured Glass Jug
lol that was quick Pips I was replying to Nic's answer and by the time I'd finished your post was up. Does look very much like what I have here.
Just out of interest what did the jug sell for? need to see if I payed over the odds

Re: Textured Glass Jug
That's my hypothesis scuppered, then.
The glass looks a lot clearer in your pic, Pip. I got the impression from the original post that it was a little green-tinted.

Re: Textured Glass Jug
My photograph is not brilliant on this Nic
its just a quick snap to put on here but you would be correct in thinking there was a slight green tint to it noticable in the thicker parts when looking from underneath. I think its iron that adds a green tint to soda glass? so your hypothosis may not be completely totalled, but more likely to be high in impurities at source.

Re: Textured Glass Jug
Sorry Nic, we posted at the same time. I don't remember mine having a green tint...
Re: selling price - if I remember rightly I sold it for about £15 a couple of years ago - so not a lot really.
