Another Goblet Empty Another Goblet

Post by nickbug on October 18th 2010, 5:20 pm

I found this last week at one of my local charity shops. It's probably almost new but you never know. I love it anyway regardless of what it is. It stands just under 7" tall and weighs about 320g. Base is smooth and only slightly concave. Since I my glass collecting strated only recently I have discovered that I definitely seem to have a bit of a thing for goblets. Happy

Well Finnish is a good start. Gives me something to go on. I wasn't going to bother posting a picture of this but I am glad I did now.

Cheers both.

1970s WMF might also be a possibility - it bears a strong resemblance to designs by Carl Zalloni.

Nic, I was wondering that myself after you mentioned Zalloni as apossible about one of my other pieces recently. I'm going to do a bit more searching to see what i can find out. It only cost £2.

Davee, I have registered with the Finnish site which looks really useful.

It was me actually (that mentioned Cari Zalloni/WMF in the other post) - not that it matters, just saying :)

FWIW I'd definitely look towards Germany for this than Finland - it's doesn't look Scandi to me at all in production although it might be in inspiration.

Thanks Pip. Got my eye on another piece now that was listed on Ebay but didn't sell. Looks like I will get a second chance. Very similar in style. Will keep looking for these types as I really like them a lot. Wish there was a book on Zalloni glass though.
