Alan & Lyn Newton, Wirral, Merseyside

Post by heygarth54 on September 21st 2010, 7:08 pm

I bought this pottery vase today, it has the impressed mark 'NEWTON' , when I do a search for Newton pottery, Newton Abbot pottery keeps popping up but the marks I've seen are totally different to this one. The vase is 24cm tall, can anyone tell me is this anything to do with Newton Abbot or something totally unrelated ? Many thanks.

There is a "Newton Pottery" in Lincolnshire, if that's not too obvious

This is a Stoneware Vase made by Alan Newton with a floral pattern by Lyn Newton. Working in Wirral, Merseyside,
Impressed mark NEWTON

Found this information on the internet.
Alan and Lyn Newton are studio potters specialising in various stoneware clays and porcelain (see wirralpotters.com/membership/?gallery=alan-lyn-newton) . Lynís delicate painting, originally in watercolour, founds its way onto the pots using oxides and glazes. Her brushwork enhances Alanís shapes.
