only  one that I own is signed & dated 1983,I can find no info on JHMatthews however the seller informed me she was a female ceramic artist working in England.

The plaques are all slip moulded by the look of them

I'm still not sure about the maker of these plaques, only one was marked and it was done after firing so could even be the previous owner.
I have Googled the name on numerous occasions but the only JH Mattews is an author who specialises in the Surrealists

So like a Hornsea Clappison Muramic, even the "Cordon" pattern is evident in there.

Tim Matheson

Post by NaomiM on November 6th 2014, 6:00 pm

I think this is by Tim Matheson. I have a cat tile by him with the same black & white technique and same back. However, other than making these wall plaques I have no other information about him.

I have a cat tile that is just like this in both style of decoration and the reverse. I was told it was by Tim Matheson
Eitherway, I don't think this one belongs in his thread.

Old flower design hanging plaque-is it Scandinavian? - T Matthews?

Post by stardust* on January 14th 2016, 3:30 pm

This caught my eye, I'm assuming it's not british just by the design (though I'm almost always wrong!) The underside has no mark but an indentation and marks left from, I think, it being poured into a mould.
I can't find anything the same on searching. I think it was used under a teapot!
Can anyone help?
