"Bark Finish" Jug - Whitefriars? iittala?
Hi - second post, and hopefully slightly more challenging than the first?
This is a heavy, quality, irregular jug that I feel I should know... the top rim is bevelled and if not for the jug shape I think I should know this? Still a little grotty I'm afraid, but I hope someone will be able to ID?

Thanks

Definitely not by Whitefriars. That's all I can say with any certainty I'm afraid.
Could you please add a photo of the base finish too please (we always need base photos in ID requests, it's amazing what you can tell sometimes from the base!)

Hi Pip - bottom...
https://2img.net/h/i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/fianelly/P1010658.jpg
Looks a bit weird in the photo as a result of dust on the inside and sticker residue on the outside. Perhaps mould blown? I'll give it a good wash in the morning (when I can trust myself more not to drop it - past 10pm here now) and post a better photo if poss.
Thanks!!!
Fi

Re: "Bark Finish" Jug - Whitefriars? iittala?
I suspect it's a vase rather than a jug.
The rim is finished in a very similar fashion to some Iittala glass. The 'spout' looks to have been hot-worked after the glass was taken out of the mould - again, something I would associate with Iittala.
But, unfortunately, I can't find this design listed in any of the usual places.

Re: "Bark Finish" Jug - Whitefriars? iittala?
I did write another post, but it seems to be lost in the ether... so sorry if this duplicates...
Nic - on your vase/jug note... given that the spout has been so specifically added, and that there is no use for a spout (that I can think of!) on a vase, I still suspect it is intended as a jug (but am very happy to be argued with on that point!). I agree the rim is very iittala -very like the rim on the Wirkkala Pinus pieces.
Here's one of the earlier photos of the whole jug/vase, now hosted here...

Cheers!

Hi Fi, Carafe- glass container for water or wine , not to be confused with giraffe which is a large african animal without handles

Hi Ed - sadly, no. Her work looks fabulous, but I've not got much info on her. Sorry! Any chance of a photo of your piece??

Ed, if it's OK with you I'll move this part of the discussion to a new thread in the Pottery Discussion section so as not to hijack Fianelli's ID request.
